I'm participating in 2 sewalongs on Stitcher's Guild . The first sewalong is the Fall 6PAC and the second sewalong is the 20 minutes a day sewalong. I need new clothes to wear to church and it is a good reason to start fall sewing. The plan is to use the 6Pac as a starting point. After this set of garments are completed, I'll add more garments that work with a previous garment. I have several goals to get accomplished this fall and winter:
- Make a dent in the stash fabric, no matter how small
- Develop a set of TNT patterns
- Have enough garment choices so I'm not stressing about what to wear on Sunday.
- I need coats so I plan to make at least 2
- Avoid orphan garments
- Work on several tunic tops that I can wear with jeans for Saturday errands.
I need to pull fabrics from the stash for the tops. The Lekala cowl neck shows the wrong side of the fabric so I will use a solid color. The tie front pattern will be a print. I have made both tops before. I may need to shorten the cowl neck. I have a couple of ideas for more tops.
The skirt is done except for finishing the vent and hems. I used a TNT pattern that I drafted earlier this summer. The pattern is drafted with an elastic waist front and darted back. I manually pegged the skirt narrower to avoid looking boxy. I made a second skirt using a suiting fabric and lined the fabric with a tie silk from Fabric Mart that has been in the stash for a few years. This skirt still needs to be finished. I need to find a better way to finish the vent and then both skirts will be done. The next skirt up will be a gore skirt with a front lace panel.
One pair of narrow leg pants are done. I'll do a separate post about my pants journey. I have a wool crepe for the next pair of pants.
Butterick just released their new patterns . I see at least 4 patterns calling my name. It is a good thing that I'm managing to spend more than 20 minutes a day in the sewing room. I discovered that my natural sewing time is around 9-10 pm. I sleep better when I sew before bed. My other favorite sewing time is weekend morning when everybody else is still sleep.
